Deadline: Tuesday, June 7th, 2016

I’m reaching out on behalf of The Bluhm/Helfand Social Innovation Fellowship at Chicago Ideas Week. The application  window for the 2016 Fellowship is open now, and we will be accepting entries until 11:59pm CST on Tuesday, June 7th.

We’re looking for social innovators, 35 years and younger, whose non-profit and for-profit ventures are using sustainable models to tackle pressing social challenges, and who are affecting measurable impact in their fields. If this sounds like you, we’d like to encourage you to apply for the 2016 Fellowship.  If you know of other fantastic candidates we should consider, you can nominate them here!

The BHSI judging panel will select 4-5 dynamic social entrepreneurs from around the world to gather in the Midwest for Chicago Ideas Week (CIW), an annual celebration of ideas, innovation and community. CIW takes place from October 17th-23rd, 2016, and those chosen as Fellows will need to be available to travel to Chicago October 16th-21st (all travel expenses will be covered).

The world-class BHSI Fellowship experience will include:

Speaking on a respected global stage

Present at CIW, which brings 30,000+ attendees together with globally-recognized speakers, intellectuals, and innovators.

A platform for engaging with top thinkers

Meet in private, off-the-record sessions with prominent business and political leaders.  Past meetings have connected Fellows with Founder & Chairman of Quicken Loans Inc. Dan Gilbert, Ariel Investments’ Mellody Hobson, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Gen. Colin Powell, Chairman & Co-CEO of United Therapeutics Dr. Martine Rothblatt, Khan Academy Founder & CEO Sal Khan and many more.

A customized itinerary of actionable, strategic meetings

Work closely with the BHSI Fellowship team to identify critical needs you have individually or as an organization, in order to connect you with pro-bono benefits, mentorship and guidance. Some areas where previous Fellows have received direction include legal services, media training and financial planning.

Unmatched growth and exposure

Receive $10,000 in financial support toward your venture, and have the opportunity to share your work through exclusive access to CIW speakers.

A vibrant and accomplished network of BHSI Fellows

Join an unparalleled community of social entrepreneurs. Past Fellows have founded startup social enterprises that improve the lives of communities by creating innovative solutions in the fields of clean energy, civic engagement, public health and education. They been honored and recognized by Forbes’ 30 Under 30, the Clinton Global Initiative and CNN Heroes, among other accolades. The goal of the Fellowship is to grow the impact of your venture and that process does not stop when the week is over. You’ll have access to ongoing support from our network for years to come.

Once again, our online application portal is open, and we’re accepting entries until the deadline, June 7, 2016 at 11:59PM CST.

You can find more details about the Fellowship, including biographies of past Fellows on our website.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
